Top finishers advance to the state championship
HAYWARD, March 11, 2010 – The Alameda County Office of Education is hosting c-o-n-s-e-c-u-t-i-v-e Spelling Bee Championships on Saturday, March 27, 2010. Elementary school students will compete at 9 a.m. and Jr. High students at 12:30 p.m. The top four finishers in each group will receive trophies. The first and second-place finishers will represent Alameda County at the California Spelling Championships in May.

Elementary students (4th-6th grade)
9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
41 students from the following Alameda County districts will participate: Castro Valley, Dublin, Emery, Fremont, Livermore, New Haven, Oakland, and San Lorenzo.

Nathalie Longree-Guevara, ACOE’s Reading/Language Arts Coordinator, will provide opening remarks.
The state championships for elementary school students will be Saturday, May 15 at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park.
Jr. High students (7th-9th grade)
12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.
13 students from the following Alameda County school districts will participate: Castro Valley, Dublin, Livermore, and Oakland
