English Learner Forum - (EL Forum)
The ENGLISH LEARNER FORUM is a network of district representatives who meet quarterly to collaborate with the field to support high levels of success for ELs and to receive information about legislation, policy, and research surrounding the education of ELs. The Forum provides opportunities for collaboration; serves as a support mechanism for English learner program implementation; and includes guest speakers who provide expert advice on current issues related to the language and literacy development of language learners.
Specific support services of the EL Forum include:
- District visits by an ACOE team to provide information and to obtain specific individualized district needs for ACOE support in the areas of assessment, categorical programs and English learner support services.
- Facilitation of quarterly meetings with networks and learning communities to further advance the awareness level and knowledge base surrounding categorical and English learner program and compliance topics.
- Dissemination of information in all areas of English Learner/Bilingual Education and for categorical programs through webinars and weekly emails, websites, annotated video vignettes, uploaded documents and individual communication.
2011-2012 EL Forum Meeting Dates
All meetings held from 11:30am - 2pm at the Alameda County Office of Education building in Hayward.
